American military leaders agree we need a semi-permanent force of at least 15,000 for the forseeable future to ensure stability until they are able to defend themselves from themselves .
So then the concept of personal responsibility is only valid when you agree with the policy to which it is being applied? There simply has to be a point where you cut it off and say "Enough is enough." That's as true with these military missions as it is with social programs. I think with people on welfare, they should lose it if they're not working, and of course have their pay deducted from the amount that welfare would give them. It should not be a blanket "Here, have money indefinitely" sort of thing.
I think if the Iraqi government wants us there (which they evidently do not), they should have to pay our costs of being there. And there is nothing they can do to pay the human cost of our fallen troops.
