Bought Fire emblem GBA (the one that's not sacred stone) on the eshop and holy fuck some of those maps are ridiculous. Dudes so far you can barely recruit them before they are killed, maps filled with OP enemies you're not supposed to fight (but i did fight them cuz i'm naughty - i have a pretty OP thief so he killed em all and capped at lvl 20, but i couldnt do anything about it because my other characters would have gotten killed in one shot)

I do not remember situations like this at all when I played it

it was on the map where you get the axeman, dart (well the one just before that cut-scene)

You get to a port town looking for transportation to an island and pirates make deal where, if you fight them and win, they'll bring you where you need to go. All the npc's tell you not to get close to the pirates and to go around them through a path up north. You're supposed to take that path but i decided to approach the pirates head on. They all had silver equipment (at that point in the game most units still have iron stuff, some have steel stuff, and there's the rare enemy that carries stuff like longswords and sword/axe/lance-reaver weapons. Then when you do, dudes from the Black Fang decide to approach too, and a lot of them have killer weapons (the ones that boost your chances to crit) and their boss had one too, meaning a super badass army with a boss that can kill any one of my troops in one shot.

I know what you have to do is go north and let the pirates fight the black fangs, but i killed em all with Matthew because i had leveled him up quite a bit previously. Needless to say, he got his missing levels pretty quick ( i think he was lvl 18 before the fight and quickly capped at 20).

the black fang and pirates do not fight each other, and the black fang rushes for you (red does not fight red)
I've never had much trouble dealing with them

idk, they do tell you not to fight the pirates and go north to sneak around and reach the goal

and if you go directly for the pirates, you get attacked as soon as you walk close enough for the one of them to spot you, and then they all rush at you aswell

it was just a bit overwhelming to have so many more enemies than usual, and they're all super aggressive compared to the usual maps ( the pirates are onto you on turn 2 if you walk up to one of them on the 1st turn )

the pirates eventually come at you once you get close on the north side as well

guess i fucked up then, i lost tons of xp on Matthew cuz he reached lvl 20 while dealing with em.
