This client platform currently supports the Speex codec. The server and/or channel is configured to use the 'GSM 6.10' codec."

I downloaded ventrillo today and I get this error message. Anyone know a fix to this?

Mac doesn't support GSM, you need to emulate.

I've had this error, the admin has to fix it by changing your platform manually or something.

The only admin fix is switching the codec to Speex.

Ah, it wasn't working for me until just now when I got on vent so I assumed an admin changed it for me to work, I didn't do anything

From a quick google, it seems that Mac's are only able to use the Speex codec. You need to get the server owner to change the codec to it.

But again, this is from a quick googling.

Seems like that's the only fix... but seems like too much trouble asking the admin to do that

I know John jp2050, figured out a way to do this, although I'm not sure how he did it. Maybe you could send him a PM and ask nicely :p

You could install Wine and then install Ventrilo (the Windows version) there.

Wine is a Windows compatibility layer and allows executing Windows programs.
Get a copy of the GSM codec files from a Windows system and copy them into the Wine folder on your Mac.

However, Ventrilo + Wine is a combination which can be pretty frustrating...

Wine can be found here: http://www.winehq.org/

takes like 5 seconds to switch any voice chat to speex, it's silly not to have it as speexs in the first place.. medium-high quality speex = phone quality
