I hope you realize how none of the kids headphones / speakers play quality near the studio quality
btw if vent wasn't years behind in development compared to other voice servers like the one I run you'd be seeing more of this:
Quality: (best quality comes first)
Speex25.9 > Speex19.5 > Speex16.3 > Speex12.3 > GSM16.4 = GSM14.8 > Speex9.3 > Speex7.2 > WinCELP5.2 > Speex5.2 > CELP6.3 = CELP5.1 > Speex3.4
& don't forget
speex being so compatible >
Sorry, Speex < GSM. Fact. Speex is an absolute bandwidth drain and it's horrible for oversea's users. Furthermore, it sounds like people are talking through tin cans, hence why it's very rarely used. I used to work for Darkstar Communications as the webmaster and tech support rep and GSM is by far hand over fist better for sound quality vs bandwidth consumption. While I would normally invite a debate on a subject I share an interest in, there is no need to further clutter this thread with off-topic banter. I ask that you do not post here unless you are addressing the subject matter of the inquiry. Thank you
It is unfortunate that Mac doesn't support GSM, although as far as I know it's due to their refusal to pay licensing fee's. This isn't the case with Speex as it's free.
@NNJG: I did some more searching and spoke to a friend who still works with DSC and from what I found one of the only ways to use GSM on Mac is emulation, sorry
