Final Notes:

IK set sucks don't waste your time

Normal - Build a throw barb - lots of fun and efficient solo and in groups with only store bought equipment. Collect mid runes, especially Amn, Thul, Sol, to sell and trade for Windhammer and IK Gear (outside of armor are all very cheap).
Nightmare - Respec to IK Barb when you're high enough level to use a Hel'd Windhammer. Continue looking out for runes (Run Countess on occasion) and 4 sock swords/shields to sell to the MF crowd. Roll your own spirits if you're feeling ambitious. Sell your Hellforge drops to build a Duress in a decent armor to hold you over until IK. Make an Honor for your NM act 2 merc.
Hell - Fight your way through Hell, Baal run for a night and then do your own Tower/Pit combo games. Switch to Shael'd IK Maul. Keep selling those runes and socketable flails/crystal swords/armors/polearms as you grind your way to getting that IK armor. Might have to sit tight with your Duress, because that armor isn't going to be cheap in the first week.

^ thanks for a good posting. ladder restarts are always hard for melee becauseit's hard to get good weapons.

if somebody has more ladder restart hints, write them here it will surely help.

I'm not planning on making a barb at this moment, but I've read this guide and I must say it may be useful for making a pretty decent cheap char.

gg guide I used this build on my reset barb, worked gg I used the full ik set minus armor with a nigma tho.

I do agree with mostly everything in this guide, however I like my IK barb to do fast conc damage.
Thatswhy I aim for reaching 11 frames per attack. So highlord + ias jewels in helm and armor + 1 shael and ias jewel in maul.

It's all about choice. Sets are just an interesting curiosity, and some of them have also been proven viable. If you want to make a super duper gg char, then no set is going to replace your uber individual items, each priced more than the whole set combined.

What can I say? Concentrator is a completely viable IK barb build. Personally I think WW with 1 in conc/berserk and some ias on gear (25% set + 20% hl + weapon ias) is enough speed to hit fast. But it's easy to customize nowadays with skills reset quest and tokens...
