whey protein is excellent to take due to its cost effectiveness( $35 for 80 servings, average .44 cents a serving vs a dollar or 2 for any other protein source that gives 40g protein worth)and its rapid absorption rate post workout as well as its amount of BCAA's and digestive enzymes(both very usefull with pwo protein intake)
