I got a Netgear N-300 or WNR2000. Called the Netgear to set it up. While he was on phone with me telling me what to select, and for some reason, the wireless portion he said select 150 mbps. On that screen there is an option to send out at like 56 mbp, 150 mbps, and 300 mbps.

Why would the tech have me send it out on 150 mbps when it is rated at 300 mbps? I have my two desktops wired with eth cable so only wireless to the Wii. But I'm gonna stream Netflix on it so want ti to be fast as possible....

Also, if I get an eth cable (and $20-25 usb-to-lan adaptor) and run straight from router to Wii to stream Netflix, will it stream faster, or better quality? Sorry for all the questions, I'm totally new to routers....

1st prob was actually calling them to set up router...
It doesn't matter that your wifi is set to 150mbps. As soon as your wii wifi reaches router, all of it will fall back to g speeds (54mbps).
54mbps (6.75mb/s) is good enough to stream hd movies, though the wii prob can't even play higher than 480...

To have perfect hd streaming, there is more to look at then just bandwidth. But I won't go in to that, just google...

they don't want you using n-300 because on netgear routers especially, the antennas tend to overheat on their max setting. Also it's very inconsiderate to your neighbors to run in n-300 mode and smash their wifi, if on the same channel, into the ground

agreed, the wii sucks for hd, dont plan on a fix either for this the wii is limited until their v2 comes out if it does
