ive broken my eth lacerators loads of times
throwing weapons are safe to break for eth/repair, but i dont know about melee weapons

but iirc, zodding a broken weapon will not fix it

Pre-1.10, there was a "Replenishes Quantity" bug; broken ethereal throwing weapons would not replenish themselves.

But this was remedied in v1.10 (check the patch notes, Patch.txt in your D2 folder).

The 'twin-modifier', "Repairs 1 Durability in X Seconds" should behave likewise.
