My stats are as follows:

6'1 (go ahead make fun..)
240 lbs
17 years old

Best Lifts

Bench Press - 245
Deadlift - 425ish
Squats - 405 roughly

I wrestle, play rugby and football.
I have about 5 months until football season and i'd like to cut down to about 220-225 while gaining muscle.
What kind of work-outs and what kind of diet would you suggest?

I have been dieting for about 3-4 months now.  I am down 23 pounds.  I am currently 237-239 at about 6'

My current lifts are
Bench: 265x4-5
Squat: 365x3
Deadlift: 405x4-6

Those are the big three.  Let me know if you need to know anything else.  Basically, I was wondering if you would recommend keto to me.  I am tired of losing strength.  Before my diet I was putting up 275x4x2 on bench.  I either want to get this weight lost faster so I can get back to eating bigger and gaining strength or something that I can atleast maintain, because this isn't working.  I am very mentally strong.  I can avoid cheating and stuff and that's why I thought keto was good for me.  I could do it.  I was just wondering if someone my size should be doing keto?

Also, some questions.  You have salads in the diet.  Any dressing?  idk of any that doesn't have carbs lol. Also, what is a 0 carb protein shake?

Also, I can get pics if those matter to you so you can get an idea of where i am at.

Thanks alot Raynor.  I appreciate it!

Hey there.

CKD would definitely be a great option for you to retain as much strength as possible when cutting. Here is a link to the diet and sample workout plan for cutting.

salad is good, as far as dressing goes I recommend olive oil + apple cider vinegar. if you don't care for that, use a 0 carb ranch dressing like the kind from welsley farms (I believe thats the brand)

0 carb shake or near 0 carb shakes include nature's best isopure and now! 100% whey protein isolate.

A few other questions....thanks for all the help! I've been really motivated recently to get healthy.

1. Is there a difference with working out in the morning or evening? Is there a "perfect" time to do it?
2. Is it true that if you work out with an empty stomach, all the fat burned will be from whats on your body? Should you try to do that or does it really matter that much?

for strength...

mon - chest
tues - back
weds - legs
thurs - shoulders
fri - arms

for size and volume...

mon - chest/bis
tues - back/tris
weds - legs/shoulders/traps
thurs - chest/back/bis
fri - shoulders/legs/tris/traps

You also should hit abs at least once a week on strength and twice a week on size and volume.

hey there. no problem, it's my pleasure.

1. No perfect time. Just try to avoid lifting within 3-4 hours of bed time. However doing cardio is best at the end of a strength workout or the first thing in the morning when you wake up on an empty stomach (for cutting). Other than that, strength training can be at any time.

2. working out on an empty stomach generally starts burning muscle glycogen as fuel first. Once that glycogen is depleted, you will then start to burn fat and to a lesser extent muscle. To avoid wasting muscle make sure to take plenty of BCAA's while training (approx 1.5-2g every 45 mins during training pre/post/during). I recommend not eating within 1-2 hrs of training at the gym for optimal fat loss.

hey bro

thursday morning i ended up getting a stomach flu, which consisted of puking/shitting every 2 hours for 12 hours straight.

I didnt eat anything for 24 except the oatmeal i had thursday morning b4 i got sick. So friday rolls around and i feel better but my stomach is questionable.

i drank only water, ginger al and my diet consisted of very few toasts and some chicken noodle soup. I weighed myself mid day friday and i ended up losing 9lbs! (200-191)

i was so pissed at first but then thought, " well it cant be good weight, so im fine" Well now its saturday morning ( hvnt vomited in a day ) and i weighed myself at 185!!

that means i lost 15lbs in a matter of 2 days. Now im getting worried, am i losing tons of muscle? are my gains going to shit?

help :(
