A few other questions....thanks for all the help! I've been really motivated recently to get healthy.
1. Is there a difference with working out in the morning or evening? Is there a "perfect" time to do it?
2. Is it true that if you work out with an empty stomach, all the fat burned will be from whats on your body? Should you try to do that or does it really matter that much?
hey there. no problem, it's my pleasure.
1. No perfect time. Just try to avoid lifting within 3-4 hours of bed time. However doing cardio is best at the end of a strength workout or the first thing in the morning when you wake up on an empty stomach (for cutting). Other than that, strength training can be at any time.
2. working out on an empty stomach generally starts burning muscle glycogen as fuel first. Once that glycogen is depleted, you will then start to burn fat and to a lesser extent muscle. To avoid wasting muscle make sure to take plenty of BCAA's while training (approx 1.5-2g every 45 mins during training pre/post/during). I recommend not eating within 1-2 hrs of training at the gym for optimal fat loss.
