I'm looking to completely update my PC after over a decade of mostly the same hardware.
I play games or browse the web and watch videos. I play Guild Wars 2, Path of Exile, WoW, Diablo 2, Borderlands 2, RotMG and Warframe.

None of the games I play require high end, but I would like an overall smoother experience. Especially in Path of Exile and Guild Wars 2 WvW zergs.

I only have one monitor right now, but I may get a second at some point.
I don't know much about this stuff. I googled some of the information on specs to see what was desirable.

These are the parts I picked out.

Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor

ASRock Z790 PG LIGHTNING ATX LGA1700 Motherboard

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-7600 CL36 Memory

Asus STRIX GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card

MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

PCPartsPicker didn't show any compatibility issues, so I think I'm ok in that department.

Choose a case and adequate cooler and you have a rock solid build.

I see you can get all that for that huh. What I teach might as well be redundant.

Hi. Im by any means not a pro in this kind of stuff, but i was going to build a new Pc for myself too. I also thought about getting a RTX 4070. But right now the 4070 Super gets released for not much more $. Might want to look into that! :)

Dont, the supers are a waste of money..

Alright build, get your self a good AIO cooler and a proper case and your set. I personally never buy intel but thats me.

Thanks for confirmation guys. It's a fair bit of money and I wanted to make sure I get it right the first time.
I have a case and a Cooler Master CPU cooler. Single fan but the coil is pretty chunky. Right now I only have the CPU fan and one for exhaust. I may need to get a couple of intake fans.

My current CPU is the i7-2600 and I believe my GPU is the GTX 1070. (I would have to look it up when I get home)
I can't remember what the RAM is, but it's only ddr3 and 16gb.

What kind of performance increase am I looking at if I go with what I selected?

I play on 1080p if that matters.

The performance difference between your old and new build will be night and day. If it's in your budget I would shop around for a decent 144hz monitor(1080p or 1440p. Note a 1440p will take more resouces but I think it'll be fine for your new setup). It'll change your life if you've been used to 60hz monitors.

You still godly. That new spec is above human for 2018 still. I can’t imagine how much you need to get them for five years back. You like 70 at the end huh. I have 770 and I bet 1070 own so will 4070.

Consider super series if you can obtain at advertised price. Think it's roughly same cost. Else, AMD slashing 7900XTX price for a great deal unless you desire rtx with reasonable frames.

Also, I think 1000W overkill for your specs unless it's marginally difference in price.

That's great to hear. I'm looking forward to smooth FPS when I finally get everything setup.

I originally had a GTX 770 as well. Unfortunately it crapped out on me a couple years ago. My buddy gave me his old 1070 for free.

Yeah, I almost dropped down to an 850w. The parts came quicker than I thought and decided I didn't feel like returning it.

Man... I forgot how much of a pain in the ass that compatibility was for building a PC from scratch.
My $1500 budget became $2000+ real quick.

Apparently my Window 7 OS disc won't work because it's for Dell computers, and I can't even find a retail disc for Windows 10 for less than like $300.
And of course my CPU cooler didn't fit (BARELY)
I could have modified it slightly like I did with my current PC, but... meh.

Not only that, but trying to put my old parts into their original case became impossible because the graphics card that's in it now is way too big.
Hopefully I will have it up and running come next week.

Thanks for all the replies.
