Todays pick: Warriors -9
Reasoning: It is hard to gauge anything since the season starts today, typically it takes a few games to establish a groove, for the most part, but the warriors are an exception to that. Theyre coming off a complete dominant display over the cavs to win the champions hip last season. Irrefutably embarrassed the cavs. The transitional phase of adding durant to the roster has passed. The beginning of last season when they first acquired durant, they faced the spurs at home, which everyone figured would be a blowout win. Turns out, it was a blowout loss. On paper, the acquisition of durant seemed phenomenal, but in practice, it took them a few weeks to get adjusted having a super star join their already well oiled system, thats where the rockets come in. Having just acquired cp3, the rockets are going to be like the warriors were at the beginning of last season. The rockets will gel, they will be amazing, but not right off the bat. The warriors are the best 3 point defenders in the league, they have the dpoy, the mvp, the only unanimous mvp, and a bench that is better than half the east (hyperbole for those offended if your team is in the loleast). The warriors average 114 points per contest vs the rockets, who average 101. Obviously the addition of cp3 will likely raise that modestly, but in due time. Mike D’antoni’s “fire and forget” system works on most opponents, not the warriors. I expect an amazingly entertaining game, albeit it more one sided as the game progresses.
Verdict: Warriors cover the 9 point spread
