text's pissing me off. spent the last hour or two fucking around with various configs.. cheaped out on a dropshadow.
either the bg's too busy for something more complex,  or a solid-ish block behind the text, blocks too much of the bg.
i mad.

Why note just remove the text?
Or is it a request tag?

Since smudge picked up in popularity xD

one method to get better in using text is find one that you know that will work and start with the text first before your actual tagging  ^_^
I sometimes find that helpful.

well, helvetica always works but /o\
i did end up fixing it tho

Big borders are kind of my signature touch (haha, see what I did thar ^_^ )

I remember adding text for request tags to be quite difficult.
Good typography skills will help you add text to an already completed sig, but it's more effective to have designed your signature with the text component included in the composition from the start.

hum, something to keep in mind I guess. I've been doing the bg's first, like I visualize it in terms of layers, background to foreground. I usually start playing around w the text coming up to the 50% mark, that is, when I get a bg i'm happy with (but not completely finalized).
but then I do run into snags like this tag, sometimes.

like there's so many options for typo, ways to play w the text, I find it hard to visualize a specific style at the very start y'kno?

needs moarrr colors ^^
mm i hope your not one of those ppl who downloads like seven thousand fonts... ><
5-15 fonts is appropriate if you are only just tagging. but if you work with indesign you may have more then 30 imported fonts
helvetica might work on a lot of things... but it gets boring
which is why sometimes implementing text first will really help.
but you need to know the theme first before any of that

nah, i only have like 50 or so [extra] fonts, but most of them are unrelated to tagging.
more colors? iuno. i didn't photofilter it monotone or whatever (which you can see by whites & peach actually being, white and peach). hm. I guess i was mostly just going for the red/pink/white strawberry creamy feel there.
i had blues/purples at one point, but it was so distracting so i got rid of em.

re: helvetica, yeah I know. it's the "in the event I can't get other shit to work, default to helvetica qq" font.
there was an interesting documentary movie on it i watched a while back too. as interesting as font history goes, I guess.

the smudge doesn't look creamy tho :(
good creamy colors are generally the lightest colors, not darkest
