/e I'm running 1866Mhz RAM with timings at 9-9-9-27. 2400 Mhz RAM is like 15-15-15-35 timings...it's the same speed, when it's benched.

We can see CAS latency actually matters a lot here and that it's possible to get low latency even at 3200.

I'm skeptical. They must have some seriously special RAM. 2400Mhz RAM with a CAS of 16 and 3200Mhz RAM with a CAS of 14...Say what?

I mean it would be nice if we all could buy RAM like that. But I don't see it being sold anywhere.

Right, crunch time. What will be the effect of faster clocked memory with games at 1920x1080, and sure I'll throw in 2560x1440 as well. Now for our AMD Ryzen reviews I have already made the default memory clock freqeuncy 2667 MHz, I am now considering to make 2933 MHz the new default baseline test frequency for memory in our reviews. And here is why:


They ran the 3200Mhz RAM at 2667Mhz...and lower the timings. :/

low cas latency always matters more than ram speeds.
get highest ram speed/low cas speed possible at most reasonable cost.

ex. i get better perf on 3000mhz @ 14/15 cas
vs
3200 @ 16/17 cas
dont waste money on a 2400, if you could get 3000/3200 for not much more unless the 2400's cas is rated much lower
