You have to give the GOP credit, they're putting in 110% effort on trying to revive the "Trump didn't say x, he meant y" game from the campaign. They're having a much harder time distracting attention away from all of his flubs now that they can no longer spout off lies about Hillary Clinton's email use.

It'd be interesting to see why is spying on Trumps transition team their job. I can understand vetting them for security clearance but why exactly were their phone calls being intercepted. It would be interesting to see the warrant and the reasoning behind it.

And you're right Obama probably had nothing to do with it, and even if he did i doubt there's sufficient proof to tie him to it. I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet but Trump speaks in hyperbole.

If anything this report makes Trump look worse because it means the US was surveiling a country that had very close communications with the Trump campaign... hmm... can't think of any countries off the top of my head...

Wrong.

They weren't spying on Trump's transition team, they were spying on foreign officials who talked on the phone with Trump's transition team. That's why it's incidental collection, the target of the collection was not Americans. The real talking point(at least for Republicans) from this latest release is why were these American names unmasked, and who did it.

There's a difference between hyperbole and straight up lies. Trump heard about communications from Trump tower being surveilled(probably from right-wing media), and since he knows nothing about the government or how intelligence agencies work, he immediately jumped to the worst conclusion possible, which was that Obama must have ordered his communications tapped. Now, any emotionally mature individual who managed to get elected president would then call the FBI and other agencies to determine what actually happened, but like the orange baby he is, he got on twitter instead.
