According to the subforum rules:

If a program can be used to do the following, then please DO NOT post about it:
- Be used for malicious things

Literally every program that has ever been written can be used for malicious things.

ESPECIALLY if it can network.

I'm sure what they meant by that was people requesting, discussing or asking for a tutorial on how to write keyloggers, malware, phishing, ransomware or anything that would break your local laws and/or goes against our forum rules.

That sounds much more reasonable, is there any way you can arrange for someone to update that rule?

You can also close this topic while you're at it since getting a staffer's attention was the whole point.

Well imo that rule is pretty self-explanatory and common sense, I got it the first time reading it.

It's pretty much a "yeah you may ask about fertilizers sure but asking about how to build a bomb with fertilizer is of course a big no no" type of deal.

But ty for the feedback nonetheless, we'll update the rules if deemed necessary.

little confused. a lot of programs who have networking on the backend aren't used for malicious things (game servers, generic online apps, instant messengers, etc)

that rule is mostly for "how can i code a dos attack program" or "how can i code xxx malicious code to do xxx"

The rule:

The rule explicitly states we can't ask about fertilizer at all.

The way you put it is "don't talk about the malicious ways programs can be used" but the rule is "don't talk about programs that can be used maliciously."

I.e: Visual basic can be used to write bots, automation plus all sorts of malicious programs, but since it’s a common programming language therefore if a user were asking how to code an alarm clock with visual basic then it would be illogicial to punish a user for that, on the other hand if they were asking how to code a keylogger with visual basic then yes that would be illegal to an obvious extent.
