My girlfriend and I wanted to buy a car together, as her Honda HRV will go to her younger brother. We tried a bunch of SUVs, but ultimately decided on the outlander because of 7 seats, and felt like a pretty solid vehicle on test trive. I heard about Mitsubishi engine's and tranny's blowing up in the past, but they come with a 10 year warranty, and I always do my maintenance on schedule.

Poll and thoughts?

I havent checked out a Mitsu in years, but if you liked it go for it. I think All cars are good to go tbh. Some will have bad reps from years ago. But all cars will have Lemons and bad draws.

I personally went the Kia Sportage route. Good size for me, price wasnt horrible (still higher than I wanted to pay $35k after options I wanted) but I like the look of the car, had a 2019 Kia Forte with no issues, and a good friend of mine had a 2014 Kia Forte no Issues. So I didnt really care for KIIA Killed in Accident and shit like that. To me any car can shit out in 2 years, Kia, Ford, Mercedes.

I would honestly be more worried about signing with your girl depending on the situation. Like 6 Months together, or like 5 years. That can go south and cause issues.

Keep in mind that often times the warranties make you jump through hoops. If they recommend trans fluid flushes, carbon cleanings, etc and you don't have them performed they can hold them against you.
I don't get a lot of exposure to the newer mitsu's, but oil consumption has been an issue with them. That's all new engines though to be honest. '

They look nice though.

Mitsubishi hasn't been worth buying in a long time. Cheap interior and cheap engines. I've owned 3 of them since 2001. None were DSM though.

Mitsubishi makes good vehicles for the money. Just be sure to do your research on good years and bad years. Every car manufacturer has bad years and good years. As a mechanic of 27 years I would buy Mitsubishi. If you have any question's please feel free to ask me via dm. I love to help people, especially with
cars!
