Seems like the US is good for something after all. Or maybe they will take over the world based on getting unlimited electricity. Scary stuff.

"Scientists have confirmed a major breakthrough has been made that could pave the way for abundant clean energy in the future after more than half a century of research into nuclear fusion."

sorry but this looks like another "we must fight the climate change, give us money" article  sure has a lot of trigger words! but the one trigger word it doesnt have, and should, is called "Q total". Q is the amount of energy going out/amount of energy going in, and its kinda intentionally convoluted, but everyone actually in the field knows that fusion would only be worth it if the TOTAL energy going out is higher than the TOTAL energy going in. which is why when and if that ever happens, the first sentence you will see in the article about it will be Q TOTAL > 1 FINALLY ACHIEVED!1! if you dont see this, ignore the entire article

generally whenever its something thats been a dream in science in years and "has finally been achieved by some new process", you can safely ignore the entire article, as it will probably end in "we just need some more funding". people are getting dumb af, we cant think of a "new process", we can now get breakthroughs only by using better tech on ideas that have been postulated years ago, such as AI breakhrough for example. also applies to theories, for example string theory has been a scientific black hole when it comes to funds, so id say its probably shit

The only self sustainable system is gardening and soil production

Everything else is not truly sustainable and will need to be outsourced

Solar power, wind power, not sustainable when it comes to comparing the plants and microbes and soil creation etc
