Pros - wide open world, truly open world Pokémon. 400 mons in the dex. 3 major story lines
Cons - buggy, graphically not a 2022 game from a triple a studio.

This. I personally was disappointed with the performance, but being a die-hard pokemon fan, that takes the back-burner. Fantastic game.

Ive abandoned Pokemon for a long time, and came back with Arceus and had the most fun ever due to the fact there were refreshing new mechanics and it was singleplayer only. You could evolve every pokemon by yourself w/o linktrades.
Then i switched to Sword/Shield and it was okay, not bad but also not overwhelmy good. I tried BDSP and i just couldnt.. the chibi style... the old mechanics... i just passed really early.

So S/V is a kinda mix out of Arceus with open world but OG catching mechanics and like sw/sh more focus on pvp duels or Raids.
I'd would say its on the same page like Arceus, a better Pokemon and if you are not a graphicwhore and dont mind some fps drops here and there you will have a really great time in S/V. Probably the best story behind all pokemon games - 3 story arcs but lets be real here the "Star" Arc was kinda lame.
As someone else already mentioned 400 pokemon in the dex, so you have a shitton to do if you are a completionist.

And if you are a shiny hunter this is the game for you due the recepies and mass outbreaks. There is no other way to get easier shinies as in S/V.
