Got like $4k-$5k and not sure how I could make money. Flipping things found at garage sales and sale on ebay? Anyone know if that's a good method to make some $$? Do stores like Goodwill and thrift shops really have good stuff sometimes or is it better to stick to garage sales and what should I look for? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

It's always time that's the bigger factor.

You could flip goodwill stuff, and my wife did that for a few months and made some decent cash for a hobby, but it's nothing you won't out-make by just getting a better job.

Get a job. Not sure what the median wage is in your area, but $4k-$5k should be about 1-3 months work. Passive investments only return a few percent a year. Going into something entrepreneurial (as per your OP suggestions) is a lot of work and unlikely to return as much as a regular job, unless you're very lucky and/or work really hard.

If you really want to get into that, you need to put in the work to research and travel to estate/garage sales and low-profile auctions. Stick to goods that you are knowledgeable in or have deep interests in being knowledgeable in. Follow that market religiously. The less you get hit by markups at purchase, the more you can mark up your listings.

On eBay if ur in Canada and u track ur fucked
If u don't track ur fucked
In United States I'm not sure about shipping price tho
But Canada shipping for tracking is crazy we can't compete
And if you don't track your doing donation
And if you do buy stuff to resell know how long would it take to sell
Some stock take for ever some sell
Make sure you know all fee and calculate them using Excel you go program some useful stuff there

I used to do very well selling on eBay buying product at garage sales goodwills thrift stores etc … imo eBay fees have went up to high and shipping costs are insane … also goodwill lists on eBay as well so it’s hard to find good product there for a reasonable price you gotta catch something they missed … so id recommend yard/garage sales over goodwills if your going to do it….between the cost of goods at thrift store rising and shipping and fees so high I ended up giving it up … I was still making money but no where near what it was worth for my time … it’s a good side hustle though there’s a lot of work in research, listing , testing products, finding products, shipping and then dealing with bs scammers … I never did it full time tho if you put the work in im sure you can make out great id recommend getting on some of those thrifting pages on Facebook a lot of people posts their scores so you can get a better idea of what to look for … a lot of people do this full time and make bank so it definitely can be done … my all time best score was I found a nes and a n64 with a bunch of games for each for 75 bucks at a yard sale … I ended up getting around $900 for the consoles and games but that was also a rare nes game called little Samson in that lot that I sold for $2500
