How To Play:Hopefully you've gotten the invite link via pm.
PM me if you haven't. Most of you are familiar with the game already, but those that aren't, here's a quick rundown.
More info at
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/fantasy-hockey We use Yahoo Fantasy. It has an app for both IOS / Android. Naturally also works with any internet browser.
Format is
Head-To-Head, meaning each Game Week you play against another team. One Game Week is Monday through Sunday. You can switch players 4 times during Game Week if needed.
We use the
Waiver system to eliminate the speed match of grabbing hot players off the wire (Top Waiver turn = guaranteed pick). Place a claim on a player and hope your turn is high enough to get your guy.
In addition to Waivers you can also trade with other teams. As it's not a keeper league, draft picks are not involved. No brain dead trades please. Lets keep it fair for everyone.
The player with the most category wins out of their pair wins the week. Even if you lose a week, but keep it close, you still get valuable points.
Don't lose hope if you hit a cold streak. You can turn the tables with a few blowout wins.
Think carefully when you build your team to cover as many categories as possible every week. Every stat counts.
Scoring categories are copied from our 2020 league and are as follows:
Forwards/Defensemen Stat Categories: Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shots on Goal (SOG), Faceoffs Won (FW), Hits (HIT), Blocks (BLK)
Goaltenders Stat Categories: Wins (W), Goals Against Average (GAA), Saves (SV), Save Percentage (SV%)
We draft the following positions: C, C, LW, LW, RW, RW, D, D, D, D, Util, G, G, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN
BN is Bench, your reserve of players you can switch in/out when they are playing/not playing.
Util means Utility. You can place any skater there. Think carefully.
We'll have 3 IR+ spots for smaller day-to-day type of injuries, 1 regular IR spot and 1 NA (Not Active, meaning not in playing roster) spot.
Also,
don't forget to set your lineups! I believe Yahoo still resets your predetermined lineups if you make any roster moves, so don't forget to check if they've been reset.
Every team faces each other at least once. Rest of the calendar is prolly randomized, since there won't be enough Game Weeks for another complete round.
Regular season winner and runner-up get a small bonus prize for being top seeds.
8 Teams will make it to the playoffs starting in March. Tiebreaker is highest seed.
Teams making it to the 2nd round are in the fg. 2nd round losers will play for 3rd place. Finals will conclude on 2nd of April.
We won't play during the last week of regular season, as some teams might rest their stars, which would affect the finals week.
Everything is up for discussion. I'm just using tried & true formula that worked well the last time around. Still time to iron out some details.
I personally like this format as it gives people various different avenues to approach the game. Hopefully we'll have a great season!
Comments? Thoughts? Lmk.
