I was on discord with a few friends and one of my friends told me he could optimize my PC because I never did it before

He had me download a program called ISLC where it doesnt let you go under half ram from background processes etc so you have more ram for gaming

And I also tweaked some settings in my nvidia control panel settings

I was getting 240 frames and it would just sit on that for league of legends

This is my PC its a 2080 and a i7-8700

I am now spiking frames and going down to 140

I also played warzone for the first time with my friends as was getting like 70 FPS which doesnt seem right....

Any help is MUCH appreciated

Just reverse everything u did. You can do this via system restore and set it before u did any tweaks

It seems that you would be okay not running ISLC (IDK about the program but it looks to just do things while running and not actually modify the system) and just reinstalling your graphics driver with the "clean install" checkbox checked. I don't know if it appears during express install, but during the custom install it's certainly an option. that will reset anything you modified in the control panel.

I've never heard of ISLC but from googling it seems to be a startup process running in the background itself. Just close it and do above DDU and you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply guys

So I have 16gb of ram and 250 SSD and a decent fan

Was going to buy a 2nd 16gb ram stick because I have 1 stick of 16gb out of 2 slots, only 250 ssd storage and was going to add a nice corsair fan

This is not optimization by any stretch of the definition.

Retrace your steps and uninstall anything that you installed that you think may have been the problem.

Shutting Down background processes is not a good thing, it used to be back in the day for windows XP / Vista , but anything windows 7 or newer .
as some of the background processes can control power options.

I'm sure even without reverting/system-restoring I would be able to point you in the right direction.
Like someone above suggested, with the Nvidia Geforce, you can install a fresh copy of the latest driver and instead of express hit the custom button and there will be a checkbox for a fresh install of the video graphics driver along with the sound drivers for the graphics card.
Would simply also uninstall the suggested program, and that should be it.

Your video games you may have to enable or disable V-sync, and customize it to have FPS sit closer to 144-145 or maybe even 180 . That way its more stable, and you won't run into as many spikes.
