you either have the new age stuff or the older stuff

you dont like newer, I'd suggest pokemon brilliant diamond or Maybe pokemon shield if you liked open world but eh

diamond was a solid little remake and definitely felt like playing the old game with a new polish.

Sword and shield probably have the best player base in terms of dualing

Not a switch game but PokeMMO is the best pokemon game I've found that's similar to the older games but more challenging. It's also online with trading and events which is cool. More of a PC game though
