I've recently run into an issue while playing Diablo 2. Starting about a week ago, when I press the windows key, it no longer brings up my startup once I'm in game. I also cannot alt+f4 when I'm done with the game.
I assumed this was gaming mode, so I turned that off. I still cannot alt+f4 or use windows key while in game. For a brief time, even alt+tab wouldn't work while in game.

How do I fix this?

I would forget about trying to fix it and directly fix the reasons why you need to do it in the first place.

Fixing this issue is a small fix. Fixing the reason why you need to alt + tab or alt + F4 will be life changing.

Extremely convenient to simply alt+f4 when I'm done playing for the day.

Also extremely convenient to press the windows key or alt+tab whenever I want to go from the game to chrome to check for something like a cube recipe.

I have literally zero interest in changing my behavior.

Can you Ctrl + Alt +Del. then, either Alt + Tab or windows key. Otherwise you can switch to window mode and make it so that the window resolution perfectly overlaps all screen.

If the blue ribbon above bothers you you can switch it to a darker color in windows settings "themes".

I hear that so often, I guess as a high end user, i've always simply clicked the X button.

is it possible you have some Macro thats running in the background? like ( Holding Shift or ctrl )

I don't play D2R in windowed mode. That's why I enjoy using the windows key as an alternative to alt+tab. No macros running in the background.

To add more confusion to this -- when I launch D2R, I can actually still use alt+f4 and the windows key UNTIL it connects to the server. At that point, I cannot use either option.

Interesting. Are you running any other apps? I think GeForce Experience has a "game lock" function which disables your alt+f4 and windows key when in game. Maybe once you connect to the server, you are now "in game".

Just a thought.
