I currently am at 4gb RAM, I'm planning on adding 16gb ram to it 2x 8s.....will it effect my computer if I mix the brands even tho I make sure they're all DDR4 will the mixing brands effect my pc performance?

Will the 8s added with the 1x 4gb effect my pc negatively? Should I stay with 4s or am I safe to add 2x 8gb to my 1x 4gb?

Lmk pls wanting to do this upgrade this week.

i think its fine as long as both rams are compatible with your pc.

also remember your ram will run at the lowest speeds of the installed rams iirc.

honestly i'd just install the 2x 8's and forget about the 4 as it won't show much difference plus its probably some low speed ram

It's an additional 4gb so no I'm not removing it.

Any other professional opinions?

I would remove it. The CL timings probably aren't the same, it's always recommended not to mix misc Rams together due to compatibility.

And if you're going with new/current ram, the dual channel and increase in mhz/cl timings is a major upgrade. This is why companies offer 2x8gb, 2x16gb, 2x32gb, 2x64gb it is recommended to double your multiplier.

But it's your PC, your choice.

You guy's are missing the point 😆 🤣 😂
I didn't ask if I should remove my 4gb. I'm asking about adding to if it matters mixing the brands or if it'll effect my pc performance.

you can but you might be giving yourself headaches especially if you had to ask

if its soldered in you are stuck with it

all theiradvice was solid
cant have dual channel with 3 sticks
and timings and speed go to lowest

16gb dual channel cl16 3600 will give you better performance then 20gb single channel of whatever unless it happens to be 3200 cl14 but many apps do use dual channel

The posts above are irrelevant they aren't related to my questions. Bottom part of your comment is the proper response thank you

when you realize you wont even need all 16gb then they will make sense to you

not like a game ur gonna play requires 20gb ram, save it for later when it requires that i guess. by then you can also see if u get blue screens, etc.
