I currently am at 4gb RAM, I'm planning on adding 16gb ram to it 2x 8s.....will it effect my computer if I mix the brands even tho I make sure they're all DDR4 will the mixing brands effect my pc performance?

Will the 8s added with the 1x 4gb effect my pc negatively? Should I stay with 4s or am I safe to add 2x 8gb to my 1x 4gb?

Lmk pls wanting to do this upgrade this week.

yeah different materials and timings and other things i cant remember,

this answer is all over google though, people dont recommend brand mixing at all

if you cannot remove the 4gb, then you should only supplement with another 4gb of the same speed/timing/brand RAM

if you have 4 slots and can run it, then get 3 stick of it to get to 16gb total

just retire the 4gb and go with 2x 8gb for now

get another 2x 8gb of the same down the road so you get a total of 32
