Odd that it's only happening recently, after owning for 2 years. Maybe wasn't multitasking/gaming like this previously? Either way if it's a new trend just recently occurring, makes me think the CPU can't keep up to the multi applications+gaming simultaneously along with the weak 2gb Vega 8 APU.

Your advice is very solid and the 1650 super with 3 3200g is the most cost effective solution. I just see an upgrade path with his recent purchase that is also justifiable, potentially way down the road if he sees fit.

OP, how is the 5600G performing? Did you make a purchase yet?

also i get where ur coming from if OP does all this at the same time, then defo the 3200g might struggle. if its started to struggle recently, it could be thermal throttling, which is causing the stutters

Very good point, would be worthwhile to check temps when the struggle is real

also it's been getting progressively worse over the last couple months, you might be right.

well i'll give it nice thorough cleaning when i change the chip and be more mindful of how often i clean it up. right now i'm doing about every other month or so but it is actively being used about 70ish hours a week

That 41 celsius is optimal, looking for excessive high spikes in the 90's and up that would cause thermal throttling. I do notice that your core clock count is everywhere, which is odd. Maybe check bios and lock your core count to 3500mhz and see if it maintains its core clock count or if it dips and moves a lot, that could definitely have an affect on performance. It should be able to boost and lock to 4000mhz peak, and your CPU fan RPM seems high so it's def trying/keeping it cool.

Also make sure you clear your system of dust. Apply the right amount of thermal paste, not too much and not too little and make sure u get a decent thermal paste also. You dont need to do it monthly. Maybe once a year.

seems to be running fine now. set my ram to 3200 and my base cpu at 4000. didn't mess with voltages or anything. here are numbers idle and normal load plus youtube at 1440p

on a side note, i seem to have lost sound in Chrome. Edge works fines. Games work fine. Other apps work fine. But nada in Chrome on any website. Thoughts?

great to hear, nice stable clocks & temps are good

concerning chrome, could be muted

1. Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> Advanced
2. Un-Check "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
3. Open Volume Mixer
4. Unmute Chrome

If that doesn't work, can always try re-installing chrome. I'm much better with hardware, not so much software.
