Here's a bit of information in-regards to the trading system in Diablo 4: https://mythicdrop.com/guide/diablo-4-trading-system

Note that this info is based on the alpha testing and might be subject to change.

"We want to make sure there is trading in Diablo 4, but not completely open-ended trading, so that players can't get all of the best items by not even playing the game."

Because of the minority they will ruin arpg genre game for the majority of players.

"We want Diablo 4 to be social, and the shared world is something we're leaning on. We do want that opportunity for players to say: "I can't believe you have that item. Let me barter with you." We're still figuring out the limitations on trading.

This is a good sign but no one would say that for low and mid items but only for the best items which they want to be boa. So if best items cant be traded its almost as same as not a single item can be traded.

Items will fall into one of three trading restriction categories:

No restrictions: common items that can be traded multiple times
Bind-on-trade: mid-tier items that can be traded once
Bind-on-pickup: powerful items that can't be traded

lol

i swear, the more corporate you get, the worst game designers become

remember that one d3 video where they were doing an interview with brandy camel in her office, and some rand developer was asked a question about HoZ, and didn't even know what it was lol

Thats great! Its not a new concept. Char tied items been there since the early days of text based internet rpgs, i.e muds.

Having able to just buy end game gear without even playing for it just kinda doesnt seem right.

I'm sure they'll be some offline hero editor for folks who want to try gears and builds

Bind on Trade is just stupid. Why not Bind on Equip if they want that restriction?

If the most powerful items are Bind on Pickup, I guess that means that you farm different bosses for different gear (like in WoW) for your BiS gear?

Idk. I find trading very fun in Diablo 2, but Im not totally opposed to this. My concern is that they will fuck up the implementation though, like making the shako equivallent BoP (as opposed to, say, griffons equivallent as the most powerful items)

Edit: also not super fond of clans having different trading possibilities.

Those people who buy end game gear are minorty, most players doesn't buy, some buy one or two items and thats all. For me buying item feels like cheating if i didnt play game myself and traded good item i found for another.

It is cheating because the game would favor rich people. But if you don't plan to buy items that means you plan to be lucky!

But if the game favors lucky people is that not also cheating?

By being very lucky, essentially, you obtain more than other people with lesser effort.

Moreover, you would like to enforce this unfair advantage by preventing unlucky people from fixing their bad luck with money and getting on your level.

And if you don't plan to be lucky, it means you're not competitive and it shouldn't bother you what people do to get ahead xD
