what's the harm in shutting down at night?

is a low power state for years & years less wear and tear than power cycling?

i'd imagine some cache files are going to cause gnarly issues after a good few months

In my opinion ( which is not an expert).. the sleep mode consumption of power is extremely low, but it allows to update games/windows.. without major issues.. clearing temp files/cache/ restarts required by updates are obviously necessary

I could be wrong, just an opinion

Hey Cloud,

Every few days you should turn off your computer and unplug it, this allows for all the electricity to be drained out of the capacitors. Having your computer always on can eventually cause very minor wear and tear on your hardware but by the time it’s noticeable, your hardware will be out dated so it’s not a big deal.

Also rebooting and turning your computer on and off will allow it to run its checks and install small packages on the backend that may be missing or out of date. Keep the computer in sleep -> every couple days turn it off and unplug it overnight.
