ty! ofc

anyone else notice that the i9 11900KF is marked down from $689.99 to $389.99 (CAD$) on newegg rn?

Oh my, tempting.

how does this compare to the i5 - 12600K?

just checked cpu-benchmark, seems like the i5-12600K outperforms it and is cheaper

For gaming, the i5 12600k is probably better tbh. It's base frequency is higher, doesn't make much difference though as these chips are going to be overclocked anyways. But it does have +2 more cores and a faster single core speed.

If it's just gaming, the i5 12600k is the best choice for performance/cost ratio. It's an amazing cpu.

They're both the same price right now, too. You can get the i5 12600KF variant for $349.99 CAD which is rather nice.

Curious your thoughts on getting an i5-12600K or waiting for Ryzen CPUs to be released at the end of the month

It's in a weird spot right now.

The Ryzen 5 7600X is coming in at $299.99 USD on launch vs. the i5 12600KF which is currently $259.99 USD. The Ryzen 7000 series have new tech in them, improving their IPC and overall performance tremendously over previous Gen. I don't think I would consider the Ryzen 5 7600X a better option over the i5 12600KF for the price difference. The i5 12600KF is a beast for the price and has +4 more physical cores over the Ryzen 5 7600X.

The Ryzen 5 7600X does have a higher mb cache and also a higher overall boost at 5.3ghz vs the i5 12600KF at 4.9ghz.

I'd take the i5 12600KF, and not too long from now intel will launch Raptor Lake CPU's which will probably trump the new Ryzen 7000.

Currently still on the old PC.
Waiting on the cpu water block, pumps, rads.
Everything else is currently behind me ready to go.
