Hey guys the weirdest thing happened after I updated my windows. The letters on my keyboard wont work when trying to put in my password to log into my computer. But the numbers do work.

So i forced a wrong password prompt and it brought me to a new screen where it asks me to type “A1B2C3” at which point my letters do work. So i know its reading them to some extent but it just wont let me use letters to log on to my actual computer.

Weird as hell… anyone have any ideas?

Roll the update back or try reinstalling keyboard drivers

Like i said, i could type numbers and it eventually prompts saying “you have entered an incorrect password too many times” then it asks me to type “A1B2C3” to unlock the computer, and on that specific prompt the A B and C work again.

So its definitely to do with the update and it isnt the keyboard itself. I just need to figure a way to get in without being able to type :/

Ugh

so im going to seem stupid AF, but when i updated windows it asked me to set a new PIN NUMBER. It didnt register at the time that it was asking me to put in a new PIN "NUMBER" to access my computer

id always had an alphanumeric password before the windows update.

So my brother is over my shoulder, and he says "isnt a pin usually a number?" and then it hit me

The prompt after the update where it asked me to update my PIN was it changing it from my previous alphanumeric password to this new NUMBERS only PIN.

Honestly, I dont know whether to feel stupid, or if that was really not an obvious fix, but I cant be the only person who was confused after the update.

I should pay attention to the fields I fill out more closely.

Thankfully the issue is over and im back online, but how ridiculous. :wallbash:

Hey.. Sometimes the solutions are the simplest, eh? I'm glad you got it figured out. Reformatting can be a pain the ass.. Haha!
