The build would take the usual staples, Rain runeword, Jalal's/Shako/CoA, Arachnids, Maras, 2x Bul-Kathos, Waterwalks etc, with an A5 Might merc using Lawbringer for the Sanctuary Aura and the CTC Decrepify to bypass PI's.

But instead of using Beast Runeword with a Stormshield as the swap (after HOTO/Spirit to summon) and then going for Werebear/Shockwave spam, it instead goes for a Faith Bow, which gives a higher Fanaticism Aura and a chance to create more minions via Reanimated.

You lose the survivability of Stormshield and Werebear/Shockwave CC/Life, but you can support with a bow and stay out of danger, and still have access to Cyclone Armor and Flame Dash for repositioning.

Is this a viable alternative for a Summoner Druid?

If you google "Unnecessarily long guide on Bow Druids" you'll find a pod reddit post with some discussion regarding a bow druid build.

That says Widowmaker, which doesn't look particularly good. If I were going to use any Magic Arrow bow, it'd be Witchwild String because that also has a chance for Amplify Damage and a much higher Deadly Strike chance (and is +20 Magic Arrow instead of +11), and I could probably use it with Moonfire.

But the idea was that Faith would be an alternative to Beast since it also has Fanaticism on it (12-15). I don't suppose an Act 5 Merc can use Beast?

Build I'm looking at is:

20 Spirit Wolves
20 Dire Wolves
20 Grizzly
20 HoW
20 Oak Sage
1 Spirit of Barbs
1 Raven
1 Poison Creeper
1 Carrion Vine
1 Solar Creeper
1 Cyclone Armor
1 Flame Dash

Since I'd have Arachnid's Mesh, I'd also be making use of its Venom charges.

It's for the pets mainly, but I'd be doing at least a little damage with my bow too. It's still a Summoner build though, so I can't sacrifice +skills in favor of IAS for things like Highlords, Fortitude or Andy's.
