science is useful, but that doesnt mean you can just stamp "science" on something just to justify spending a shitload of money on it

once upon a time scientific progress was the end goal and money was the means to it, as it should be. today, money is the end goal and science is the means to justify getting it. ironically, money spent on science was way more useful when it wasnt about money but about survival

you cant justify funding science in general, i wasnt talking about "exploring space", or "getting out of caves", or "living more than 30 years", the same as you dont justify buying a shitload of caviar and oysters every day because "a man has to eat, right?" i was talking about this specific thing not being worth this specific amount of money spent spending 10 bil on this shit in this time is like paying 10k on upgrading your cellphone camera while you cant afford the rent for the month
