What determines how much you get back?

Wasn't sure if there was a guide

no guide, there was a tiny bit of research done, but like the critical strike mechanics, there's not a lot of interest in gathering the information needed to give a decent overview

the higher the tier and the more stats the item has, the more health and mana you receive. That's really as far as it's got tbh.

I figured that was the case but I wasn't sure if there was more to it than that. Thank you!

my rule of thumb to use them efficiently - multiply the tier and rarity. usually a "full shrine" is when that number is near equal, if that makes sense.

Level 30: an Angelic (+4) tier VII should get very close to a full heal

Yup. But then you just lost an item that could have sold for 2-4 fg.
Personally I think it’s wiser to invest in good regen gear and leave your inventory slots available for the decent drops when they come in as sale food for your marketplace. Since my regen takes ~ 15 seconds from 0 to full if it isn’t worth selling it isn’t worth picking up

You can pretty much use +5/6 upward modified Tier I items from level to 15 that will replenish your hit points because they are low, I start at level 1 with around +5xx Maximum Hit points, and by the time I am level 20, I have saved +5/6 upward modified Tier III / IV / Vs to use from level 20 to level 35 with decent amount of hit points returned from shrining.

I then start with level 20 items with like +3 modifiers or more upwards, saving higher tier items to sell on the MP for others to purchase to use as a shrine or skillable.

You can play around with it and find the best for you... at higher levels, the drop ratio is lower (when solo'ing) ... so I tend to save up the higher Shrines and use the lower level items... I even use Tier I items at 55+ to conserve some of my other shrines I have saved for Ambush or other hard Evil Presence spawns.

There isn't a guide, I have done this solo'ing 99.99% of my time, it is different in a full group.

Actually I missed out Tier VI's with +5 or more modifiers (Mythical +) that I use in the level 30's ... I did do 1 test test... An Arcane Tier VI replenished around 3,000 hit points ... around level 40 because I had the hit points from my Vitality (I only have 100 Base vitality maximum). The higher level you go, it seems you are not recovering as much hit points. Haven't confirmed whether it reduces the amount at higher levels when your Hit Points are higher.

Example: @ level 40 using an Arcane Tier VI item can heal 3,000 hit points out of 4,000, whereas at level 60, your hit points maybe 6,000.

Forgot to add something here, I have not fully tested it properly.

+X Maximum Life gear equipped BEFORE shrining items increases the life amount returned (think it is % based on your maximum life). Note: have not tested this with +X Maximum Mana gear though.

Basically before using + Regen Gear, you have +X Max Life or Mana gear, put those on before Shrining, then switch to Regen Gear... this process is long, but may help.

Also, I just did a little test with the /whistle 1 ... then press T and use a healing charm to recover hitpoints before shrining / regen or further explore. You can use this method for 1 level, once you gain a new level, you will have to reset the /whistle 1 again... Well, I have to test this further.

Hope this helps... oh, I don't like using the /whistle 1 method, but that is just my own personal preference when I solo.
