Day 3

Woke up early again to walk my wife to her soul cycle class and I got some gambling in. Played craps dark side until someone walked up and wanted to join my table, which I then switch over to normal pass. Was making some decent profit, but then I went on a god roll. Playing 100 pass, max odds behind, and whatever numbers I was feeling, made about 7k in the 30 minutes I rolled. Even better, the guy who joined me had 1k on the the make em’ all, which I hit (pays 150 to 1), in addition to his bets on the small and tall bets. He gave me 2k as a tip. I won’t complain. The hype alone was worth it.

My wife finished her class shortly after, and we went and had breakfast at the Terrace again. I had a double espresso with the huevos rancheros, and she had a cappuccino with the avocado toast. The huevos rancheros is one of my favorite meals here. Delicious as always.

Not wanting to spend another day at the pool and give our skin a break, we walked over to Resort World to check it out. No thanks. Felt too much like a shopping mall, which might be more fitting for some people (very similar feel to the Cosmo), but it’s not for us.

We walked back over to the Wynn and booked a couples massage. I’m not much into massages as I find they hurt, but my guy was good at managing the pressure, and I enjoyed it. We stopped and did some shopping, and my wife got a new pair of Louboutins, a new Louis Vuitton purse, and a new hermes twilly, that she gets each year as a tradition.

Then, low on time, we rushed over to our last minute dinner reservations that our host was able to get us at Mizumi.

I had their Old Fashion and my wife has some berry drink that I forget the name of.

We started off with their Hokkaido Snow Beef from Tomakomai City, Hokkaido, 3 ounces each.

Then we had the chef’s nigiri tasting as well as much salmon, tuna, and yellowtail nigiri as I could order before our show at 9:30. While the kobe was absolutely delicious (and so were the drinks), their nigiri was pretty average, though I’m spoiled by a local chef that I have regular omakase with. The magic is in the rice, and Mizumi had your normal sushi rice.

Still day 3.

After Mizumi’s, we got a limo over to the Venetian to see Atomic Saloon, which is a show made by the creators of Absinthe, also adult comedy.

Got lots of videos, but it doesn’t look like i can post them in a user blog for some reason….

Pretty fun show. Not as fun as Absinthe, but I still enjoyed it.

After the show, we were pretty exhausted and went back to the Wynn and headed upstairs. After a bit, I went back downstairs and gambled some. Played blackjack and craps. I forget what the rollercoaster was like, but at the end of day 3, I was up 22k.

Day 4

Woke up early again and walked my wife to soul cycle as always. Then I stopped by craps. Nobody was at the table so I started playing dark. Mostly 100 to 200 on the don’t pass line, max odds, then occasionally add a don’t come bet for some spice. Eventually someone else came up and I switched to playing pass line. 100 on pass, max odds, then sometimes add some numbers and hard numbers for spice. Had a pretty good hour and made another 2k.

Up 24k.

Wife finished her class and we went to eat. Instead of the Terrace again, we stopped at the buffet for some reason. Unfortunately, I did not get a video of the buffet line. However, the Wynn easily has the nicest buffet in Vegas in my opinion. The price is stupid expensive to match, but it’s an incredible spread, all fresh made right there food. Delicious meal to have with the boys or family when you’re exhausted and just want to chow down.

Here’s a random picture walking through the Wynn:

After the buffet, I had several calls to handle, but then we went to the pool again. It was a bit cloudy and sprinkled a couple times, but it was nice and relaxing. Our server was a young girl who was also working on her teaching degree, so my wife and her had a lot to chat about. She provided the best service we had all week, but it could have been because it was cooler outside and easier for them to work.

After the pool, we took a nap then headed over to the Cosmo. We’ve been looking for a new casino to try soon and have been between the Cosmo and the Aria now (especially since we easily ruled out Resort World). My wife also wanted to check out the Chandelier bar, so we stopped there. We have dinner reservations at 9:30 at SW Steakhouse, so we were working with a few hours.

I had their old fashion, and she had their “Champagne Social” or something like that. Neither of us were able to finish our drinks. The old fashion had way too much spice for me.

After our drinks, we walked around the Cosmo and explored a bit more. We both decided it wasn’t for us. It felt too much like a shopping mall with a casino in the middle of it. Which is fine, but has a different atmosphere than we like. The Cosmo is probably more fit for going with a group, bachelor/ette parties, etc, than going with a single partner where you want it to feel a bit more intimate. We walked over to the Aria and did some shopping along the way. This time my wife added a small Valentino purse to her collection. We got to the Aria and REALLY liked it. We had been before, but this time we were visiting it from the specific perspective of do we want to stay here. We stopped by the high limit section (this is very important for deciding where I stay - I need good tables, good service, and good selection, as well as SOME people in there because I like to meet people while I gamble). While checking it out, we ran into one of my good family friends and life mentor and his wife (they’re true high rollers, I’m a fraud next to them), and caught up. He was chip leader in the senior’s tournament at the WSOP going on and had to run back over. Hope he crushed it.

We headed back to the Wynn for dinner at SW Steakhouse.

I started off with the Old Fashioned. Again, not able to finish it. I typically don’t like any restaurant’s special take on the Old Fashion. It’s called Old Fashioned for a reason.

My wife ordered a bottle of wine as normal, which I switched over to unable to finish my drink.

For appetizers, we ordered the caviar service and shrimp cocktail. I’m not a huge fan of caviar. It tastes fine, but for the cost, I could have just sprinkled a little bit of salt on whatever you call that cream shit. However, my wife loves caviar, so it’s worth it.

I battled between wagyu and the domestic wagyu. Since I had wagyu last night, and I wanted more meat than the 4oz standard they would have given me of Wagyu, I went with domestic wagyu. It was alright, but I should have gone with normal wagyu. Definitely more of just a “real stake” than wagyu. Sorry for shit pictures, it was a bit dark in there.

My wife had the Ribeye, which she always gets. Both cooked medium rare. For sides, she had the black truffle cream corn, and I had the potatoes au gratin.

Again, we were too full for dessert, but they brought us out some small dessert to celebrate. I forgot to take pictures, but I think we had one bite each before calling it quits. We sat for a while so my wife could finish the bottle of wine that I was unable to even help a full glass.

After dinner, we went back to the room to relax for a bit. Here’s a picture of the damage my wife has done shopping so far. Not pictured is all the shit she got before/for the trip (another pair of Louboutins).

After relaxing for a bit, my wife went to sleep, and I headed back downstairs for a few hours. Again, mixing blackjack and craps. The trip was coming to an end, so I got more aggressive. My blackjack hands were starting at 500, scaling up to 1.5k, and my craps rolls were starting at 150 going up to 300. The night got bad and I quickly went down 10k and lost everything I was carrying. Instead of extending my marker, I decided it was better to go get cash from upstairs. My wife fortunately did not wake at this point. I brought some cash downstairs, played blackjack at 1k a hand, got back to even with 1k profit, then went upstairs and went to bed around 3 am.

Currently up 25k.

Day 5 (last day)

Woke up early and had cake and champagne/mimosas for breakfast (they had brought us another cake. Not sure if was an accident on their part or if they brought us two - one for birthday and one for anniversary).

My wife decided to get started on the packing, and she was going to need a lot of time to play tetris and figure out how to get all her new stuff home, so I went downstairs to gamble. We had a late checkout granted, and I had several work calls as well.

I went to blackjack and made some friends with two asian guys. Our friendship was built over the bond of getting absolutely demolished together. We easily lost 10k each. I was playing 500 minimum a hand, up to 1.5k, and he was playing around the same and sometimes more. Again running out of what I had on me, I went back upstairs to stock back up on cash. My wife was awake this time unfortunately and rolled her eyes when I opened the safe. She’s been here before and knows what’s about to happen. It normally ends with the safe getting emptied and us going home with nothing, hours before our flight.

I brought another 10k downstairs with me and sat back at the same table. My friends were still in the area, though he was waiting for a wire to go through so he could join me. This dealer took me all the way down to my last 500. But then my lucky wife showed up. We went on a heater back to the starting 10k. Then the heater continued and we were back to 20k (even for the morning). Then we made an additional 1k for my time. Tipped the dealer and left, done gambling for the trip.

The reason my wife came downstairs is because she gave up trying to pack. We had bought too much, and my wife had declined to have them ship us what we bought, wanting to wear it instead. So I was talked into upgrading my luggage at the Louis store. I already had the duffel, so I got a matching suitcase, which was ABSURDLY expensive compared to my perfectly good $80 suitcase off amazon. Oh well. This time we opted to ship the box home, and filled up my new suitcase with the stuff she couldn’t fit.

We finished packing, I met with my host, and paid my tab (I went WAY over on food and beverage expenses, plus the cabanas, spa, and more) with cash, as well as paid off some of the shopping with cash.

We left Vegas with $25k. Now time to pay the tax man.

For the flight home, I picked the sandwich for my first class meal, and my wife picked the salad.

Overall, a great trip, though I fell a bit behind on work. I probably should have taken time off instead of trying to work half days.

Next trip will probably be a solo/duo boys trip to the Aria to play some poker and more high limits blackjack.
