imo it looks slightly better than d3 but hoping the quarterly update tomorrow shows some good ass itemization

Probably itemization will not move far from D3, so the result will be as we expect - everyone buys, play 1-2 weeks, and leave it.

didn’t d3 trailers mention or show it and it never happened.
watch out for cute promo videos, that is how they get you.

It looks better than D3 that's for sure. I'm afraid the gameplay might be sht though. I see nothing that says D2 inspired outside of blood? gore? That's a double down on D3 mechanics and it won't work.

I really hope they continue to support D2R.

If something walks like a duck and quacks like a duck… It most likely is a duck.

This game looks like D3, with a darker color palette.

The skills are designed like D3 were. Doesn’t matter sorc or melee… You run to the monsters’ pack and make a big AoE boom. It just has different colors for different classes. Red for the necro, apparently.

And the combat feels like you are just gliding on a frictionless surface. Don’t see any fhr, block animations, … And monsters get on top of you without any difficulties either. Which turns combat into an arithmetic gear check, rather than tactical positioning and outsmarting enemies.

Bad pathing for monsters in D2 was actually an (accidental) feature, not a bug. Few understand this. Monsters could’ve been strong but you could outsmart them. But if you made a mistake they could’ve killed you. Nothing like this exists in D3 and I don’t see this in D4 either.

And the gore elements they try to forcefuly push everywhere now, after D3 was all sunshine and rainbows… They got it all wrong, again. It was supposed to be a scary world, not a disgusting one. D1 (and, to a lesser extent, D2) had a great, scary atmosphere. When I look at what they do in D4 I don’t feel any scary atmosphere. I just want to vomit.

Valid points.

Personally im looking for itemization depth.
All the mechanics in d2 with further depth.
Make for more skilled gameplay needed to come anywhere.
Make positioning, timing etc matter.

I hope they make d4 extremely difficult but based on skill and understanding of gameplay and mechanics - not on gear/stats

I know this wont happen to the extent im hoping for considering they cater for 100iq people.
Im still optimistc tho
