The temps on that CPU are likely caused by the numerous boosts that Ryzen has along with the newer motherboards that came along with the 3000 series. They have tons of unnecessary "special" shit that just spikes your CPU like crazy.

When I got mine it would spike all the cores full throttle just to open an app faster. A combination of disabling it in the bios and also using Ryzen Master to chill things out keeps mine REALLY cool. Never breaks 60 no matter what I play.

Also, I would second that evga 650 semi modular. Not sure what the price says on those links but right now on Amazon it says that its half off at only $60.

Its a semi modular PSU which is one that I personally prefer over fully modular. Something about having the Main power cord always in there makes me feel better lol.

Cool cool. Thanks for the recommendation. I ordered the evga 650. Do you have any suggestions on disabling those spikes in the CPU?

download hwinfo
look at 'features'
see if you have a bunch of red stuff on there. if it's red figure out how to enable it, but if you're using a stock cooler id really recommend getting one i linked they're dirt cheap alongside some thermal compound :)

maybe check your motherboards support page for driver updates for everything as well, alongside bios

Yeah, I'm just using the stock cooler that came with the AMD card. I can snag one of the ones you linked. Another noob question, does paste come with it or will I need to get that separately? And if so, are there specific brands that are better than others?

Ok, good to know. I am going to grab https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y87YHRH/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1Z5H6ZGWCMTNX&psc=1 as well.

Drivers for motherboard are up to date but looks like my BIOS is out of date. :(

Mines from 2020 and they have a 6/2022 release.

Not looking forward to flashing the bios tonight/tomorrow.

Thank you guys for the help thus far, I really appreciate it! Here is my new output, running heaven benchmark with the new cooler and PSU.

The CPU did hit 64 degrees once, but then quickly dropped back down into the 50s and stayed between 50-60. Overall looks a lot more smooth than the previous version.

Tested with D2R just now and it seems to be working much better. Seemingly no lag while streaming to Discord (I'm even writing this post while streaming with D2R open and there isn't any lag). So this likely fixed the issue. Now I just need to figure out how to optimize the setup (both the case fans and the graphics settings) to make it flow smoothly.

Hell yeah man I'm glad that worked out for ya.

That temp on your CPU isn't too high by any means. Its max temp is 95 so you're good by a wiiiiiide margin.

That CPU temp "wave" effect is Precision Boost for sure. That's part of Ryzen and is a perk along side your MOBO. It looks like everything is working smoothly. Congrats :)
