Current build:
Ryzen 5 3600 6 core
32 GB Ram

I had a Nvidia 1050 and had no issues. Loading times on D2R were slow, but that's to be expected with a card that didn't even hit the recommended specs from Blizz (they recommended a 1060)

I upgraded to a Nvidia 3060 this week and let GEForce Experience set the settings automatically for me.

The game will run fine and smooth with Discord running in the background with no issue. If I screenshare to Discord there doesn't appear to be any significant increase in CPU or GPU usage (25% for each, up from 10-15% for each), but my mouse will be laggy/stutter when I am alt-tabbed out of the game. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, but the screensharing from D2R is causing the issue. The stuttering happens as soon as I press "Screen" in Discord and it brings up the different options for applications/screens to share. It occasionally happens while I'm in the game and screensharing, but that's not consistent. The consistent and most prevalent is when I alt-tab out and then start to screen share.

I've tested with Valorant and Fornite and neither of them cause the issue.

Another thing I noticed as I was taking screenshots is that the GPU will spike to 100% when I cancel screensharing in Discord. I'm not sure if that is of any value, but I figured I would dump the knowledge since I noticed it.

Here is a clip where I was in game, alt tabbed out (black screen), clicked back into game. I was making circles with my mouse the whole time and as you can see, when I'm alt-tabbed out it's stuttering

are you plugged into the GPU? what's your PSU? did you do a clean install when changing drivers? make sure your old ones aren't on there. there are driver removal tools out there like ddu.

I followed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouG8c-lBgV4 for removing the drivers via safe mode and DDU and reinstalling.

The whole computer build is here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FD2fpH I didn't consider it but the power was like 188/450W with my old GPU, now the new rating is 344/450W.

What do you mean by "are you plugged into the GPU?" I plugged it into the board and have an 8pin power connector going to it. Is there something else that I missed?

looking at your psu vs. your task manager, seems like you're OCing your CPU? i usually follow a 30% overhead rule for my systems PSU, i.e your system is 'estimated 344w' so, 30% more would be 447w to account for any overclocking.

what purple means by are you plugged into your gpu -> https://i.imgur.com/gX4SZV2.png

you can also try running a gpu benchmark while running gpu-z and look up 'how to tell if my gpu is getting enough power'

make sure your pc is plugged directly into wall and not a power bar

discord is also just crap, my 3080 sometimes bugs on disc as well. i turned off HW acceleration on disc and it seemed to help a bit (in disc settings)

Recommended power for a 3060 is 500-600w, you need to get a new PSU. I would get one ASAP.

Especially with precision boost probably being whats upping your CPU clock as well, that's a power spike every time it triggers. And it triggers A LOT.

I honestly don't remember if I set it for overclocking or not. I definitely didn't get into anything specific and custom, but may have set an MSI preset in the BIOS when I set it up.

I am plugged into the GPU because my CPU doesn't have integrated graphics so monitors just don't work when plugged into the motherboard.

Running Heaven Benchmark

Playing D2R (not actually giving the stuttering error right now)

Idling in D2R

Also, looking online everyone is claiming that Nvidia recommends a minimum 550W power supply (though I can't actually find that on their site anywhere)

So it might be a combination of high settings in D2R and possibly too small power supply.

Gotcha gotcha.

Any recommendations for power supplies? I found this reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/lxprkl/what_is_the_minimum_psu_wattage_for_a_rtx_3060/ and the guy is recommending the Corsair RM550 and I found the RMx 650 here https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2HbwrH/corsair-rmx-2018-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020178-na

If you can't tell, I'm still new to the PC building scene and trying to get my act together and learn. So all this help and info is greatly appreciated!

look at your power supply %, it's in the danger zone esp. if it's a bronze inefficient one, and that's at 88% gpu usage

The temps on that CPU are likely caused by the numerous boosts that Ryzen has along with the newer motherboards that came along with the 3000 series. They have tons of unnecessary "special" shit that just spikes your CPU like crazy.

When I got mine it would spike all the cores full throttle just to open an app faster. A combination of disabling it in the bios and also using Ryzen Master to chill things out keeps mine REALLY cool. Never breaks 60 no matter what I play.

Also, I would second that evga 650 semi modular. Not sure what the price says on those links but right now on Amazon it says that its half off at only $60.

Its a semi modular PSU which is one that I personally prefer over fully modular. Something about having the Main power cord always in there makes me feel better lol.
