Driving from Virginia to Southern California for work. Plan on being out there for 3 months working at a small hospital outside of LA.

Any advice for routes to take/shit to do en route?

Okay so the south....avoid it.

Both the diarrhea people and the food that will give you diarrhea.

I usually 100% agree with this sentiment, but driving through Kansas makes me want to hurl myself off a cliff. At least the south "beyond Oklahoma" has some pretty amazing landscape.

Probably not the best time to go to Texas. Also driving texas to new mexico way is equally horrid as kansas driving.Flat and wind turbines for soooo much of it. Plus oil field traffic makes your chances of dying to poorly upkept trucks and methed out drivers a bit higher.

I mean you literally have a bad choice as soon as you hit the mid US either way so i'd vote trying to make it the Colorado way.

You should stop at Barstow tourist area (Route 66 Old Town Barstow )if you drive by. There's older vehicles , ufo / alien themed art and what not , many different types
Of jerseys such as beef , snake , alligator , etc . The grapevines (Lake Arrowhead) has some of the best wineries and breweries! You should apply rain x or similar treatment incase you come across heavy rain on your trip . You should also have Towing insurance such as AAA , A vehicle jack stand , reliable spare tire , fixit spray , self start battery jumper / air hose invade you do across some trouble . You should also download offline map packs because it'll Be handy if you lose gps signal.

It’s definitely one of my top vacation spots. My next big purchase will be a vacation home out there.

Literally NO photo editing, I was on the Dry Creek trail head on my bike and was able to snap some amazing shots. I had to turn around about 2 miles in and take my bike back to the truck because I wasn't good enough to keep pushing forward with the bike, but I did hike the rest.

I believe the total hike I did was 7 miles. Started around 6:30 am and finished around 9.
