I had a extremely OP fire trapper on pd2 but that was 3os lizards with 5/5's yadda yadda

Is fire trapper as nasty on d2r?

No, Hot Spurs and Dwarf exists, and you do 0 damage to half the monsters in Hell.

I didn't play pd2 but I played PoD (the mod pd2 stole 90% of their shit from)

Top end damage on PoD for wake of fire was like 4-5k.

On d2r it's like 1.5k

Also facets and stuff that increase fire damage still don't apply to traps on d2r.

So to answer your question. Nah they shiiiit still.
