Without a doubt, they scored 4 goals and like a minute in the second period, the game couldve easily been won by either team. As well the series too. The Kings, Leafs, and Pens were all up 3-2 on their first round series and ended up losing.
I think most of the issue (for me any way, and probably most others who didnt have an emotional stake in the game) isnt the call itself but rather the ambiguity in which the rule is written. It was the perfect example of a true 50/50 call and because of the vagueness of the rules it was judged in a way that a large portion of hockey fans just will not be able to see. To you its a good goal, to me its also good, and to SP as well, but then Subzero, Drago, Manajunkie, etc. all see it it the other way around.
In reality its on the league, not the refs. The league needs to step up and rewrite the vague ambiguous rules so that they have concrete terms and criteria. The game will be better for the players and the fans if we all know what can or can't happen and what is or is not allowed.
I mean. Sutter could have challenged. Couldn't he of?
And oilers win 4 straight but "series can go anyway too" come on man.
