Currently have 2x8gb sticks of ram that are mediocre at best I'm looking to upgrade to 64gb so will likely be replacing my current ram, any recommendations on what ram I should get?

Faster RAM (check the timing) if you need less latency or you're overclocking. 64GB is gonna cost alot if you want snappy RAM. You're looking at maybe $600.

Or just get 64gb of the highest rated ram?

before the manufacture, maybe should see the specification like what frequency your procesor compatible and the procesor is compatible for 64gb ram
