The point is that there's a large contingent of normies/moderates/swing voters who might prefer abortion being legal at least for the first weeks of pregnancy, but who don't care too much about the issue and would go along with a reasonable
version of a ban. These voters will imho be turned against the pro-life position when there's reports about underage rape victims forced to carry stepdaddy's child to term, or women forced to continue unviable pregnancies until they almost die. Imho, 70 or 80% of the "outrage potential" comes from these 0.1-0.5% of cases, and considering the precarious public support for the pro-life position, it seems politically unwise to not carve out exceptions for them to defuse the issue.
Simple solution: Bring back the death penalty and get rid of liberal district attorneys who claim they can talk rapists out of raping. Include rape as an unforgivable crime and start dropping them.
Set a max appellate term of 3 years and after that, goodbye from Earth. Then that 1% of abortions caused by rape and incest will be gone. Jails will free up space for more criminals with an actual chance of rehabilitation. In fact get rid of life sentences under the grounds of cruel and unusual punishment, if you never get to leave, why keep em alive at all? They’ve proven they can never exist in a free civil society, so to death with em. As a society we stop keeping the anti societal problems alive and on the streets ready to hurt more people. Then, we can revisit first trimester abortions. Anything beyond that would have to be eugenically based, which I semi-support. No one wants a defective baby. No one wants to be defective. When genome reading improves to a 98% chance of detecting permanent health/mental problems, well, maybe try another baby?
As it is now, it’s mostly irresponsible women letting irresponsible men thrust to completion into their birth holes who want abortions. The outliers have been hijacked by the trash of society and society is deciding to fight back. Still the SCOTUS ruling means it’s up to the states, just like weed.
Also to crunkt, the meme is hilarious!
