they don't have devs capable of making a game like D2 anymore.
look at the team they have on D2R. They started to try to break the mould and add meaningful content to the game in 2.4 then immediately backpedaled and reversed it to pretty much the same game with drop tables and damage values of skills slightly modified.
not to mention papa tencent is breathing over their shoulder and wouldnt dare allow them to sink money into a game with no meaningful MTX profit vehicle.
blizzard is dead, pray to god microsoft does something about it 5 years down the line, but remain apprehensive until given a reason not to be, as has been the case with blizzard of the last few years.
