Eschutas has 25% damage and -5% enemy resist on it. The 25% damage alone more than makes up for the 1 skill loss.
-5% resist, against an enemy with 50% resist, increases your total damage output by 10%. As can be shown here:
You do 10k damage. They have 50% resist. You do 5000 damage
You do 10k damage. They have 45% resist. You do 5500 damage
5500 is 10% more than 5000%
Eschutas + spirit is better.
You always only compare a precise scenario to find an advantage in a precise situation then switch to compare something else. Lets keep the scenario you exposed first : pvp.
-5% res in pvp means nothing, no real pvp player will have his maxed res dropped by an extra 5% from any possible sorc build.
Using a 105% build this wins hard. And 105% is going to be thd new meta for tons of build now that you can alternate between all spells with a delay.
