Not only could you potentially roll +3 Nova, +3 Es and + 3 Light Mastery on the base, you also need less strength with a Staff (ideally even ethereal to lower req. even further), because you dont need a Monarch and also have a big change to cast weaken when struck, which adds survivabilty on top of a large Life Boost and +30% Mana Regen.

Sure in HC, Hoto and Stormshield will still be the way to go I guess, but in sc Obsession might be insanely cool for the melee Nova Sorc.

maybe for fire sorc ? but will be hard to beat hoto + spirit for example

archon staff has str req of 34 (0 for dex).

i think in a good base its better than hoto + spirit.
