What about PvP being a big thing in d2s longevity and scene upsets you, bro? I've seen your rants allover this weekend. You got NK'd in the moor one time too many?
Without PvP keeping d2 active past 2010, there wouldnt even be a PD2 or PoD. D2 would've died out by 2008 if it wasnt for pvp keeping it alive.
Since path of exile came about there has been better pvm games in the genre. but none close as far as pvp goes. thats widely acknowledged as fact in the genre.

Sorry pvp isn't for you but you should show some respect to the people who help end-game gear having any kind of value. Because aint nobody gonna spend 30 000 fg on a 10fcr ring to farm baal a fraction of a second faster my man

it's not that pvp doesn't matter, it's that PVP had legit nothing to do with d2r. The D2 revival was linked directly to plugy. PVP was not a blip on blizzard's radar.

Do you disagree with the fact that there are better pvm games after 2008 in the genre of ARPG/RPG?
PvP is the "minor thing" to the majority, but it has all the relevance to keep D2 being a legendary game that's actually relevant to this day to just be a legendary game people have fond memories of but that was irrelevant by 2008 when PoE came about.

D2 is very good in other aspects aswell, and I never got nearly as deep into PoE, don't get me wrong. It's a classic for fully PvM oriented players who never had a duel, i acknowledge that. But there are other modern games that your average PvM-for-a-few-weeks-til-theres-no-point-of-farming-more-gear-player can and have moved on to. But none for the arpg/pvp enthusiasts.

Obviously d2r/blizzard is gonna cater to the millions of drones that play the game for a month top and never pvp, because their purchase is as good as the minority that PvPs. But D2 would not be remade if it wasnt for its prolonged two decade longevity and that is almost exclusively due to the great pvp it has.

You don't need to write anything out you're talking from anecdotal personal opinion while I am speaking from objective facts. D2's trends on google, youtube, social media, etc have all been related to plugy, grails, speedruns, and other pvm aspects. The PVP community is very hardcore, but it's very small and miniscule in the grand scheme of the game. The real truth is D2 got a remake because they don't want the IP to sit cold while D4 and Immortal get infinitely delayed cause D3 is already dead.

This just shows your bias. USEAST NONLADDER maybe have 50-100 people dueling on D2legacy today. That's today, after D2r is available.

The d2 pvp scene in 2003-2016 on eur/east/west was so much bigger than you seem to grasp. Im not saying >51% of d2s player base was active duellers, but a great deal of players who stuck around for over 2-3 weeks or played every second ladder reset for a week or two DID atleast somewhat duell. maybe 1% took it as serious as the guys in Legit Dueling of today. but that 1% is still a huge number of players in peak d2 day.



It's not as black or white as you make it to be. How is it that my perspective (pvper, long time bnet player) means im raising "anecdotal evidence and opinions", while you, so obviously coming from the opposite community, (speedrunner/mrllamasc/plugy singleplayer grail farmer) speak "objective facts"?
