I got one of those cheap acer nitro 5 laptops earlier this year and I’m going to upgrade the ram and storage.

My question is the current ram in it is 8gb ddr4 2933mhz…. I can’t find any ram that matches that mhz exactly. Obviously I’m taking the old out and replacing it with new stuff but does it have to be 2933ghz if I do that? I can’t find what the acceptable range on this laptop is. It says I can upgrade it to 32gb of ram.

Model is
AN51-55-53AG

Also similar question on the ssd. Certain type?

It’s literally plug and play after a small screwdriver use but since I am technologically stupid I don’t want to completely fuck it up.

Ty for advice ahead of time.

this will show you what type of ram/ssd you can use. you don't need to match exactly but motherboards do have a supported range.

Are you missing a 5 in that model number? And is that a typo about reaching 2933GHz instead of MHz?

Regardless of the fact that I can't find that exact model, buying any DDR4 laptop RAM will suffice. The quickest and roughest way is to go to Crucial's website and pick one of theirs based on your laptop's make & model. I can't help you out because the information you provided appears to be wrong.

As to the RAM speed (MHz), think of it this way - 2933MHz is a number that should be treated similar to 16GB or 32GB for RAM space/size. You don't have to specifically search for 2933MHz (or GHz as you claim). As long as it is DDR4 and for laptop (SODIMM), you should be ok.

But taking a guess at this, I don't recommend going higher than 3200MHz. I don't see too many search results showing that folks put in anything higher than 3200MHz.

To address the storage/SSD and looking at all the various models, it has at least a 2.5" SATA slot and maybe two M.2 PCIe slots, probably at Gen3 speed. So buy anything as long as it's not Gen4 because you won't get the full benefits. Gen4 SSDs would be Samsung 980, Western Digital SN750/850, etc.

Again, Crucial's website can help you navigate thru their products.

Took me fucking 30 minutes to search for this crap product with limited information...with 10 minutes of looking at YouTube videos of random models of this crap product...

Yes that’s the info on the box I got. Ty for all the info.

Edit/ I see what you mean though. The box has to have a misprint on it.
