I know they say its better to invest for higher rates of return over paying down a low interest mortgage but im thinking there's something about having the mortgage off your shoulders thats liberating

Thoughts?

I had similar thoughts when I became a home owner (little over a year ago now) but I think the best move is dumping $ into the market or saving up to buy another house. Let that appreciate while someone else pays your mortgage and repeat the process!

Really depends on what your mortage rate is at and what rate of return you're experiencing in the markets

Consistent investing with 10-20% of your income, throw the rest at the house.

There are financial advantages to a paid off home (security in case of market crash, equity to leverage in case of once in a lifetime opportunity)

I think what you're hinting at though is the emotional advantage of having a paid down house. You make better decisions when you have stability and a paid off home offers quite a bit of stability.

I've come across people chasing max returns and ignoring a rotting home, they become more erratic and error-prone. Some people make out like bandits but it definitely entails a lot more risk.

Age/risk tolerance might change your opinion on these views

Figure out ratios to invest that work for you, every dollar that comes in. And stick with it. You welcome send fg
Example:

Personal - 50%
Home - 20%
Investment -10%
Realestate - 10%
Fun - 5%
Give - 5%

Then deterimine the risk for investments
ex High 10% /medium 30% /low 60%

So say you get $100 then $20 will go towards your home
Investments will have $10 but $ 1 will be high risk like shitcoins, some crazy startup, $3 will go towards stable top 500 comp shares, $6 will be allocated to bonds, savings
