I mean Sabonis is pretty much on par with Brown talent wise and fits the team better and the timeline(if there is a talent gap it surely isn't a significant one). Kawhi was a known flight risk where you're bascially hiring a mercenary to go all in on one season like Toronto knew they were getting themselves into. Brogdon would be a huge upgrade over Smart if he stays healthy. He can score on all 3 levels, has way better decision making, and is a significantly better facilitator.

Who do you realistically think Brown can fetch? Beal is a bad fit and so is Lillard. Honestly Simmons would bring a lot of the things the C's need if he is engaged but he comes with a big risk.

Brown is almost worth Sabonis and Brogdan alone, there’s no need to put smart in that as a sweetener. Maybe Grant Williams or someone, but I personally prefer Grant over Smart from a team point of view, but he has way less value.
