So I bought an M15 R6 Alienware laptop off Dell and within 30 days, the power literally won't turn on.

I'm going to return it and buy something in Toronto, maybe Best Buy? Any ideas on where I should go and what I should buy, budget is between $1,000-$2,500 Canadian. I want the specs to be above the minimum requirements as I plan on PvPing and don't want any lag

Is laptop a must? That budget would go a lot further on a desktop build, either prebuilt or custom

I've been finding (in Vancouver at least) 3060s and 6600xt are popping up at retail more frequently

That would be a great start and then last gen CPU either ryzen 5 or i5 and you've got something powerful and under budget coming together

A laptop isn't a must, I was considering a desktop since I already have a decent working laptop, but not decent enough to handle D2R

Have you built a PC before? I'm happy to help and definitely think it's worth it. I've done 5 or 6 builds this year between $700Cdn and $5000 Cdn

I have never built one before TBH, probably looking to spend $1,000-$2,500 for one that'll last a long time. I'll generally just be playing D2R with it, I have an apple laptop I do school stuff with

Need keyboard/mouse/monitor with that budget?

Looking for a particular aesthetic?

Would you prefer a low-profile case or something audacious?

Could definitely make this happen with that budget

Yea all inclusive I think

Maybe a case with lights haha not necessary but it's nice to look at I guess

I'd want to make sure there's lots of cooling involved because my previous computers had a thing for overheating

This may all just be a fantasy (I'm trying to return my alienware laptop but it's been over 30 days - dell has a policy for only allowing for a 30 day return BUT it broke in less than 30 days and I've been waiting over 1.5 months for it to be repaired----ridiculious!)

Slow on the draw but here's a build I did recently

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/mpCXMv

You can downgrade the cooler to save money (this one has an LCD screen for GIFs)
You can downgrade the GPU if you're only using a 1080p monitor
That CPU is a few generations old now but a current or last generation i5 will be great

Cooling isn't as much a concern currently, a good air cooler is sufficient but water-cooling looks nice

If you want case lights, get cheap RGB fans with a controller, there's lots on Amazon
